Position Summary:

 

Primary functions of this position are pick-up and delivery of local freight, using a variety of vehicles.  Also assists in loading and unloading trucks and containers; participates in general warehouse and customer service duties.

 

Key Responsibilities:  (this list is not all inclusive, nor may all duties be completed by all within this job title)

 

  • Efficient and safe pick-up and delivery of local freight using flatbed truck, box truck, van, tractor trailer or other company vehicle
  • Load and/or unload vehicles, trailers or containers as needed
  • Move freight within yard or warehouse using forklift or other equipment as needed
  • Process any and all paperwork related to freight
  • Represent Span/MSTS in a polite and professional manner at all times
  • Consistently adhere to all of Span/MSTS Safety and Fit for Duty policies and procedures as well as DOT regulations
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle such as gas, oil, coolant, tires, lights and brakes to ensure proper working condition; perform minor vehicle maintenance, emergency repairs and cleaning

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

 

  • Warehouse clean up as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Communication/Customer Contact:

 

Communication skills are necessary as the position interacts with customers, vendors, contractors and/or suppliers.  Communication is rarely about confidential information.

Essential Skills, Experience and Education:

 

  • High school education is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience is preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position

Summary:

The Fuel Driver Position is responsible for the safe loading, unloading, transportation, and delivery of gasoline, diesel fuel, Av Gas, etc., on public roads or highways, from various locations to the customer(s).  Must observe state and city speed and safety regulations, as well as company customer service and safety policies.  Must provide excellent customer service and while making timely deliveries.  Must possess or be able to complete requirements for a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with hazmat and doubles/triples endorsement.

 

Essential Functions:

·         Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and observing all traffic law and safety regulations.

·         Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating truck condition to the dispatcher or shop foreman.

·         Loads petroleum product at terminal and unloads at assigned station facilities

·         Must be able to back tankers in and out of service bays in the shop and around customer property.

·         Maneuvers trailers in and around tight corners, through manufacturing areas and around high pedestrian traffic.

·         Stick tanks prior to, and after, delivery of fuel.

·         Remain outside by hoses while taking on fuel or making delivery.

·         Maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.

·         Maintain telephone or radio contact with dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.

·         May perform emergency roadside repairs and install tire chains.

·         May drive tractor with two trailers hitched in tandem.

·         Performs related duties as assigned by dispatchers.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

·            Must be able to drop and spot trailers on varied terrains.

·            Requires high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor-trailer and in preventing damage to materials and tractor-trailer equipment.

·            Must be able to back trailers in and out of receiving docks as well as service bays in the shop.

·            Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 

·            Ability to write simple correspondence. 

·            Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

·            Ability to quickly and accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

·            Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

·            Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

·            Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points.

·            Must pass substance abuse screening (as a safety sensitive employee subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy)

·            Must have the ability to work independently; pay attention to minute details; be organized with ability to prioritize and complete tasks; bring energy to the position and be internally inspired using his or her initiative; be punctual and dependable.

·            Ability to successfully complete a company logbook and demonstrate basic math skills.

·         No serious moving violation (excessive speeding over 15 mph) or DUI in the previous 5 years

·         Tanker/chemical experience

·         Valid Alaska Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement (X)

·         Valid medical card — FMCSR Part 391.11 (b) (4)

Preferred:

·         Three plus year winter driving experience in a tractor trailer

Summary:

Schedule and coordinate the pickup and delivery (P&D) activity of WBI drivers, trucks and equipment in a safe and cost efficient way by working in conjunction with customers, company (shop, admin, linehaul, etc), and government entities. Utilize the WBI computer dispatch program. Receive and act on customer requests for P&D. Maintain company records, logs and calls. Perform general admin and other miscellaneous duties.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively communicate and interact with customers, management, drivers, other company departments, government agencies, and public/private officials and citizens.
  • Direct and manage the P&D activity of WBI Linehaul and Yard staff  within the Anchorage commercial zone in a safe, customer service focused, and cost effective manner while utilizing the WBI Dispatch Program and card system.
  • Schedule and manage driver attendance and leave time requests.
  • Maintain dispatch related records, logs and phone calls.
  • Perform general administration and other miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Manage truck/equipment inventory and yard parking.
  • Administer supervisory functions to include hiring, terminations, logbook and camera audits, discipline and other supervisor tasks as needed.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

·         Knowledge and experience with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

·         Ability to read and comprehend DOT and OSHA regulations.
