Span Alaska announced Feb. 15 it will construct a new 54,000-square foot freight terminal in South Anchorage. The project is the largest private construction project in the municipality this year. (Image/Courtesy/Span Alaska)

ATTENTION ELLIOTT HIGHWAY DRIVERS:

The Chatanika River Bridge at milepost 11 on the Elliott Highway will be open to two-way traffic by Monday, August 5. When the bridge is fully open, the width restrictions that have been in place since mid-June will be lifted. The bridge does not have a posted weight limit. Oversize or overweight loads will still need to be permitted through DOT&PF’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement office as usual.

HC Contractors is currently paving in the project area. Expect additional delays this week until paving is complete. Construction will continue after paving until the end of the season. Thank you all for your patience.
