The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has updates on the Glenn Highway Eagle River Bridge construction project.

Eagle View Drive/NEW South Bound Frontage Road
Glenn Highway users will continue to notice a fair amount of construction to the west of the highway. This work is reconstructing Eagle View Drive to become a new southbound frontage road for the Glenn Highway, between Artillery and Hiland Roads. In addition to ensuring access to the area west of the highway, this will also create an additional connection we need for redundancy in our transportation network. We expect construction activity on this portion of the road will continue through the fall. Updates will be provided as the work progresses.

Nighttime Lane and Ramp Closures Start NEXT WEEK!
Drivers have been experiencing intermittent closure of the 3rd lane (slow lane) south of Eagle River to accommodate construction of the future frontage road. In about a week, construction will switch to nighttime work to minimize impacts on highway users during peak traffic. We’re asking drivers to expect nighttime closures of the fast lane of both the northbound and southbound Glenn Highway. Two lanes will remain open in both directions at all times. There will also be periodic closures of the southbound Hiland Interchange off-ramp to accommodate construction activities.

Fall Lane Closures/Earthquake Repairs
As part of this project, DOT&PF will be repairing earthquake damage to the abutments of the northbound Glenn Highway Eagle River Bridge. These repairs include the removal of bumps on the road and stabilizing the approaches. These repairs will potentially require a complete weekend closure of northbound Glenn Highway after Labor Day. Additional details are coming soon!
